If you are searching for a marriage record in Ireland and cannot find one, search in the next parish. It can yield interesting results especially if you search by surname only. 
Some of my maternal Hurley relatives from Annagh Parish, Co. Kerry did not marry in St. John's Church, Tralee but in Castlegregory. 
Others on the Sheehan side married in Ardfert Parish instead of the Spa.
