"Your Irish Identity, Gifts and Shadows", Webtalk, Jan. 30th
This 60 minute webtalk is for anyone with Irish Roots who wants to take some time to explore our rich and vibrant heritage. The material I will draw on includes Irish cultural/social history and the results of a short online survey, "Your Irish Identity"
The universe is made up of stories not of atoms" Muriel Rutledger
The first stories any of us hear are our family stories. These stories give meaning in our lives and inform our choices. As we find our families we find ourselves..gifts and shadows. We have all our gifts; our wonderful language (even in English), our music and dancing to name but a few. But many of us also have challenges dealing with the shadows, unhelpful beliefs and behaviour patterns, family secrets and sometimes even addiction issues. The stories we tell ourselves deeply impact on our ability to enjoy our heritage, our identity and to cope with it's challenges. This webtalk will give you the opportunity to think of your heritage in a new and liberating way. There will be stories and fun too!
My name is Martine Brennan. I am a London born Irishwoman. I majored in History and Sociology in University College Cork and then qualified as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist in London. I have had a lifelong fascination with family roots and identity which began at my grandmother's fireside.I do hope you will join us for "Your Irish Identity, Gifts and Shadows" on Jan. 30th. A recording will be available if you cannot attend on the day.
P.S. If you participated in the survey, you will receive an email giving you free access to the talk.
