Please note that Civil Parishes and Church Parishes do not neccessarily share the same boundaries although they may share the same name.
Each Civil Parish comprised a number of townlands. The goal of everyone tracing their Irish/Kerry roots is to identify the townland of origin of their ancestors. A townland is a rural area sometimes comprising only a few acres. It usually does not contain a village. Most Irish towns contain several townlands.
