Did you ever wonder what is it all about?
I do sometimes.
I wonder why the wicked seem to prosper,
and good people seem to have such a bloody hard time.
I wonder why beloved babies die too soon.
I wonder why some young people feel so hopeless,
that they take their own lives.
I wonder why  men and women kill each other over a piece of ground.
I wonder why people enslave people.
I wonder why people use people.
I wonder why hearts full of love are snuffed out by hatred.
Once I had a faith that carried me through.
I had a belief that justice would prevail.
When my Hannah died, all that changed.
I thought my faith would return.
But it did not.
Now I can make no sense of the senselessness of it all.
But there will be no 'white flag' upon my door.
Though I often feel I hold a tiny candle in an overwhelming darkness,
I will keep that candle alight,
no matter how often someone blows it out.
I will keep on 'keeping on'
because if I surrender,
if you surrender,
then we give our beautiful imperfect world over to those who will destroy it.

So glad to have found your website. Look forward to all your interesting stories as I anxiously await my first trip to Ireland and Scotland in August 2013. The first thing I've been really excited about since losing my husband, my life partner in 2009. Cannot fathom losing a child. God bless you.

Marcia, welcome! When that spark comes back that we think is entirely lost it is a wonderful thing... Mx
