My great great grandfather was Patrick Brennan of Clawinch Island, Co. Longford (sometimes spelled Claunch) He married my great great grandmother Bridget Delmar on Jan. 28 1850 in Newtowncashel Parish Church, Co. Longford. Their witnesses were Patrick Tracy and Mary Keeny. Griffith's Valuation records Patrick Brennan as a tenant of Francis Featherstone and Chas O'Neill on Clawinch Island in 1854. He is a tenant in common with Martin Delanour (who I believe to be the father of Bridget) of 30 acres of land worth £13 and a house valued at 10 shillings.
Their first child Martin, possibly named for Bridget's father, was baptised Feb. 11 1851.
His sponsors were Michael Foey and Brigid Kearney.
Ann Brennan was baptised on Aug. 8 1852.
Her sponsors were John Brannon and Mary Delmore.
Patrick Brennan was baptised June 11 1854.
His sponsors were Martin Tracy and Bridget Killian.
Luke Brennan was baptised Oct. 11 1858.
His sponsors were Luke Brennan and Catherine Brennan.
Ann Brennan was baptised May 11 1861. (This sadly suggests that Ann born in 1852 has died).
Her sponsors were Michael Gerely and Brigid Clarke.
Michael Brennan was baptised April 4 1868.
His sponsors were Andrew Tracy and Ellen Kenny.
Thomas Brennan was baptised Dec. 22 1871.
His sponsors were Michael Brennan and Mary Brennan.
Patrick Brennan died in 1891, on Clawinch Island in the presence of his daughter Ann.
In 1894, Ann married James Lally of Annaghmore, Kilteevan.
Ann Brennan Lally died in 1931.
By 1901, only Thomas, the youngest is living at home with his elderly mother Bridget.
