Thomas Joseph Brennan was baptised on June 20th 1909 in the Roman Catholic Parish of Newtowncahel, Co. Longford. His parents were Thomas Brennan and Margaret Tracey of Clawinch Island.
His Godparents were Patrick and Mary Garrick (transcribed as Gavick on the reproduction of the baptismal certificate on rootsireland.ie) The date of birth, address and father's occupation are not noted.
We next find Thomas Joseph in the 1911 Census aged 2.
The most likely possibility for his godparents, Patrick and Mary Garrick, is a couple of that name living in Clooncraff, Mote, Co. Roscommon in 1911, in the household of Edward Garrick, Patrick's father. They have 3 children at the time, Edward (10), John (9) and Mary K (5).
A search for a marriage record for Patrick Garrick, son of Edward, of Clooncraff, yields a Civil Marriage Registration Feb. 9 1899 between Patrick Garrick and Mary Gilleran, daughter of Patrick Gilleran of Emoe. The marriage took place in Kilteevin Roman Catholic Church, Co. Roscommon. Patrick Garrick's father was Edward.
A search for Patrick's baptism record leads to baptism and civil registration records for the children of Edward Garrick and Catherine Brennan of Clooncraff, Co. Roscommon.
Mary, Patrick's twin 1872
I was unable to find a record for the eighth child that Edward Garrick records in the 1911 Census.
I am begining to wonder if Thomas Brennan of Clawinch and Catherine Brennan Garrick were sister and brother?
